August 2nd, 12pm @ The Local (612 Erie St)

We want to care for our neighbours in a tangible way. The Local is a community food centre that offers amazing meals throughout the year, but not on long weekends. As a church community we want to provide a meal for those who need it this August long weekend.

There are lots of ways to get involved! Here’s a quick description of how you can help. For more information, email office@avonchurch.ca

Greeters - Greet patrons as they arrive to help them feel welcome and invited into the space. Arrive at The Local at 11am.

Servers - Keep tables refreshed with water, clear dishes after patrons finish eating, chat and mingle with patrons. Arrive at The Local at 11am.

Cooks - Prepare and serve food under the direction of the Head Cook. Arrive at 9:30am.

Dish Washers - Wash dishes as necessary. Arrive at 11am.

Advertiser - Deliver flyers to local shelters approximately two weeks before the event (flyers will be provided for you).

Shelter Liaison - Connect with local shelters approximately a week before the event, and coordinate delivering the leftovers to them immediately following the lunch.

Desserts - Prepare hand-held (cookies/tarts) desserts. Desserts can be dropped off with Sarah W at Queens Park Sunday (July 27th) or can be delivered to The Local between 1-5pm on August 1, or between 9:30-11am on August 2.
